After the tragic passing away of Paul Bäumer, one half of Dutch electro house duo Bingo Players, 2014 was always going to be an incredibly tough year for the other half of the duo, Maarten Hoogstraten. 

“The year started rough for me,” he explains, “because Paul died in December last year and I was not sure if I wanted to continue Bingo Players. After some time off, I decided to go on and carry on the music and his legacy. I was overwhelmed with all the support from the fans.”

After making the decision to continue, Hoogstraten has ensured that Bingo Players remains in fine form. A packed tour schedule saw Hoogstraten play at the Hysteria Records Pool Party in Miami, EDC Vegas, Nocturnal Wonderland, and also at Remembrance Festival, an event set up, in part, to pay tribute to Paul Bäumer and raise funds for cancer charities.

In a further reminder that a DJ’s life can revolve around more than just music, Hoogstraten also became a father for the first time in 2014. “It is the best thing that happened in my life and changed my whole perspective on it.”
