Kendal Calling

An intimate boutique offering, Kendal Calling has emerged as one of the most innovative independent festivals over recent years.

Easier on the pocket than most of the big guns and resting in the littoral woodland splendour of the Lake District, Kendal Calling still comes packed with a talent-stuffed dance arena to satisfy the thirsts of beatfreaks — this year Northern dubstep/drum & bass heavyweights APE and eclectic curators Wax:On are hosting the Saturday and Sunday respectively. The rest of the line-up covers accessible electro-pop (Calvin Harris), local indie icons (Wild Beasts) and eccentric oddities (satirical cover band the Lancashire Hotpots). There’s also plenty of boutique charm and eccentric buffoonery with cinema tents, burlesque troupes, 12 piece transvestite cover bands, folk bands and comedy performances.
