Another blistering groove from New Jersey's most uncompromising producer featuring a barrage of noises, effects and a lowered octave spoken word vocal with the near genius lyric "shake that ass, shake that booty, shake that ass, bounce bounce". Hard jackin'.

Wayne Gardiner Feat Jahzara
Always In My Dreams (Cima)
From one of the minds that made the Logic classics 'The Warning' and 'Blues For You', 'Always In My Dreams' may not be in quite the same league but it's still a pretty decent jazzy house workout with a couple of more than useful dubs.

Richard Grey
Bang (Subliminal)
Props to Richard Grey for doing what no-one else has done by getting Robin S back in the studio to cut a new track. His reward is a great, instantly recognisable vocal on which he wastes no time in stamping the epic melodic Grey production style with the added bonus of some stomping piano.

Bring Back 88 EP (Defected)
How could you not like a record with such a great title? Most inappropriately there's little of anything you might associate with that rich vintage but luckily what there is on offer is groovesome enough anyway in a straightforward beats, basslines and riffs sort of way.

Classic Solid Groove with beautiful poise and deep intensity, led by a lean reversed string part over a bed of rumbling beats. So simple, so good.

Ruben Mancias Feat Carla Prather
The Return (Devotion)
If Chicago's Carla Prather has ever turned in a duff performance, I've yet to hear it and that's not something that's going to change here. 'The Return' is at first look an obviously traditional soulful house workout but far from falling into the many traps awaiting both producer and singer, Mancias and Prather combine to make a song with a complex arrangement that owes more to jazz and improvised than plain old house music. The hooks are obscure, the beats are fussy, the music rich, multi-instrumented and opulent and the verses and choruses almost indistinct. Challenging, but impressive.
